Terroir Gamay Noir 2024
The grapes are hand-harvested, with each bunch carefully inspected. Using hand-sorting belts, only the healthiest berries are selected to begin natural fermentation. A portion of the berries undergo CO₂ maceration, gently bursting later in fermentation and releasing vibrant red fruit flavours that enhance the wine’s freshness. The purest free-run juice is then matured in old French oak barrels for eight months, developing soft, layered tannins that complement and respect the fruit.
The Gamay Noir is a vibrant and elegant expression of our estate’s unique terroir. Aromas of red cherry, dark berries, and fresh prune are complemented by subtle hints of spice and well-integrated French oak. On the palate, juicy, soft fruit flavours mingle with bright berry notes, creating a smooth, balanced, and lingering finish. The high-altitude vineyard and cooling coastal influences allow the grapes to ripen slowly, preserving purity, freshness, and lively acidity, while the sun-exposed slopes and well-drained soils enhance concentration and structure, contributing to the wine’s ageability.

2022 – John Platter – 4 Star Rating
The grapes are sourced from the only Gamay Noir vineyard block on our farm, planted on a southwest-facing slope in decomposed granite soils. These 20-year-old vines benefit from deep root penetration and careful nutrient uptake. Mid-season, unripe bunches are removed to leave only the healthiest fruit. The combination of well-exposed slopes and balanced sunlight ensures gradual ripening, enhancing flavour development and natural freshness.
