Asara partners with Glenfiddich for intimate series of Whisky Sundays
Asara Wine Estate and Hotel, a five-star hospitality and wine destination in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands, has announced the launch of the Glenfiddich Whisky Sundays. Starting in April, the monthly event will be hosted at Asara's resident whisky and cigar lounge Sansibar.
Asara general manager Peter Gottgens says the Whisky Sundays is a timely addition to their offering ahead of the colder winter months. "With summer slowly making an exit, we decided to host a series of intimate whisky events that combine fine dining, warm hospitality and, of course, some of the best whiskies on the market."
From April to August, the events will take the form of a Sunday lunch that includes a dram of that week's featured whisky, with light music and a whisky professional on-hand to guide guests through the tasting process. The Grand Finale event in September will be a dinner paired with all of the whiskies featured up to then.
Kicking off on April 10th, the first event will give guests the opportunity to sample the Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix limited edition whisky, which is not yet available locally. On May 8th, the Glenfiddich 12 year-old will be featured; on June 5th, the Glenfiddich 15 year-old; on July 3rd, the Glenfiddich 18 year-old; and on July 31st, the rare Glenfiddich 21 year-old will take centre stage.
Whisky lovers are encouraged to attend the first event in April, as any guest who attends the first event and two others will receive a special invitation to attend the Grand Finale Dinner that is to be hosted on August 28th.
The April price is R75 per person and includes a meal and a dram of the Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix Limited Edition. The lunch events will take place from 12:00 to 18:00, with the time for the Grand Finale Dinner still to be confirmed.
